DRESS CODE
(2014 - 2015)
We take pride in the appearance of our students. Your dress reflects the quality of our school. Student dress is a factor in the establishment of a positive educational atmosphere. Clothing should be modest, clean, neat, and appropriate for school. Students are required to wear:
1. Shoes or sandals at all times.
2. Skirts and shorts must extend to fingertip length (standing/arms to side).
3. Shirts and blouses (tops) that cover the waist of pants/skirts (bottoms) when standing or sitting.
Any apparel that disrupts the learning environment will be considered unacceptable. Fashions that the staff considers to be disruptive to our learning environment and are NOT permitted are:
15. No Yoga pants or tight fitting clothing.
Any student who does not follow these appearance standards will be asked to make necessary changes to meet the standards. If he/she is unable to change to appropriate clothing or make the necessary changes, he/she will call home for a change of clothes. He/she will not be sent to his/her class until the appearance standard has been met.
Final interpretation of this code will be at the discretion of the school administration.

- Hair dyed in extreme colors (blue, pink, etc.)
- Pants that sag.
- Pajama bottoms.
- Tank tops, sleeveless t-shirts, mesh shirts / blouses, belly shirts, blouses with spaghetti strap, low scoop blouses, plunging / revealing necklines, halter tops, or shirts of any kind with the sleeves cut off.
- Hats, caps, sweatbands, hoods, bandanas, scarves or other head coverings (special occasions only).
- Jackets, coats, and gloves are to be kept in the students’ locker during the school day.
- Shoes with wheels, Heelys, are prohibited in the buildings of Lawton Community Schools.
- Offensive writing or insignia, such as tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or sexual innuendos.
- Sunglasses, unless directed by a physician.
- Wearing articles that could be used in a harmful manner (i.e., chains, dog collars, spiked collars, spiked wrist bands, pant straps, chain wallets, etc.)
- Gang colors, ornaments, or symbols.
- Excessive body piercing other than pierced ears and small nose studs.
- Leggings need to be worn with clothing that is at an appropriate length. (finger tip tunic)
